The Cable Center Launches Podcast Series, Stories From the Headend

The Cable Center announces the launch of its new podcast series, Stories from the Headend. This series curates thousands of hours of video footage of cable industry innovators from The Center’s archives into thematic segments. Topics include women in cable, technology, innovation and entrepreneurship.

“Podcasts are growing in popularity, so this series is a natural evolution of our oral history program,” explains Jana Henthorn, president and CEO, The Cable Center. Stories from the Headend will feature two new episodes each week released Mondays and Thursdays 5 p.m. ET, the first covering a main topic, followed by a deeper dive into the theme during the second related podcast. The first season will consist of 12 new episodes published over six weeks.

The initial episode features Evan Shapiro, executive vice president of digital enterprises at NBCUniversal, with TV 101, explaining the evolution of television. Future episodes will include media titans and innovators such as John Malone, Julian Brodsky, Ted Turner, Brian Lamb, Sheila Nevins and Leslie Ellis.

Anyone who’s interested in the history of the cable industry and the colorful characters that created it will enjoy this informative and entertaining podcast series. Stories from the Headend is produced in-house at the Cable Center’s new high-end Tech Studios, which are open to the public beginning this month.

You can subscribe through iTunes, Google Play, through most available RSS feeds or at cablecenter.org. The official hashtag for the podcast series is #headendpodcast.
