What a couple of years it has been for Janice Arouh. She and the executive team have worked side-by-side Allen Media’s Chairman, Byron Allen, focused on the acquisitions of The Weather Channel, Bayou Broadcasting, and most recently, USA/Heartland along with shepherding significant subscriber growth.
Arouh serves as President, Distribution and Marketing for Entertainment Studios Networks and The Weather Channel. In her capacity, Arouh is at the helm of the content distribution division leading strategic growth and revenue initiatives for nine networks; The Weather Channel, The Weather Channel en Espanol and Entertainment Studios’ portfolio of 24-hour HD television networks; CARS.TV, COMEDY.TV, ES.TV, JUSTICE CENTRAL.TV, MYDESTINATION.TV, PETS.TV, and RECIPE.TV, now available in nearly 160 million households as well as the streaming service, Local Now. Arouh is also focused on the company's various business development initiatives as well as commercial revenue including monetizing the company's vast content library.
Before joining Entertainment Studios, Arouh was Executive Vice President of Affiliate Sales and Marketing at Crown Media. Prior to joining Crown Media in 2004, Arouh held several distribution and affiliate marketing positions throughout Fox Cable Networks since 1994 including Senior Vice President, Sales and Affiliate Marketing. Janice was an integral part of the original FX Network’s distribution launch team for News Corp’s entry into basic cable.
Arouh is recognized as one of the top distribution players in the industry and holds many distinctive industry awards and tributes. She has been the recipient of the Women In Cable and Telecommunications Lifetime Achievement Award, she was inducted into the Class of Wonder Women by Multichannel News, and CableFax’s Sales Hall of Fame. Also, CableFax recognizes Janice annually as one of the most powerful woman and executive in media. She is also the recipient of the LupusLA Woman of Achievement award.

Baker Media, Inc.
Bridget Baker is a recognized industry leader and corporate board director noted for building from inception a $5 billion content-distribution business at NBCUniversal. A co-founder of CNBC and the company’s first president of TV Networks Distribution, Ms. Baker is credited with building, and later overseeing, the company’s cable, satellite and telco subscription-revenue business as it became one of the largest and most profitable in the industry.
Following a distinguished 23-year career at NBCUniversal, where she served in the top 1% of senior executives and was at the forefront of a wide range of strategic initiatives, from expanding coverage of the Olympic Games to creating Hulu, Ms. Baker established in 2013 Baker Media, an independent consultancy that advises and represents media and technology companies.
Ms. Baker is the only woman to be named to the board of directors of global digital music company, LiveXLive (Nasdaq: LIVX), a position she accepted in October 2019. From 2013– 2018, Ms. Baker was the first and only woman to serve on the board of directors of General Communication, Inc., Alaska’s largest telecommunications company (Nasdaq: GNCMA). In 2018, the company completed a $2 billion merger with John Malone’s Liberty Interactive to form GCI Liberty (Nasdaq: GLIBA). During the year-long diligence process and deal transaction, Ms. Baker was one of three board members appointed to a committee charged with the sensitive task of representing shareholders’ interests. While on the board, Ms. Baker was pivotal in creating the GCI Women’s Network, the company’s first-ever employee resource group.
In 2016, Ms. Baker was nominated to the board of directors of Yahoo! which garnered her national and international coverage in the Wall Street Journal, New York Times, CNBC, Bloomberg, Investor Business Daily, and US financial outlets as, “the person who helped build NBC’s cable empire,” a “media expert,” and one of nine “extremely impressive media and tech execs who will not only give Yahoo a serious run but could be on Google’s board right now.”
Ms. Baker’s nonprofit board experience ranges from media and industry organizations to educational institutions and women’s advocacy groups. She has served as a trustee of her alma mater, Pitzer College, since 2002 and was honored with the college’s Distinguished Alumni Award in 2010.
As the sole woman inducted to the Cable Television Pioneers Association in 2008, she was also awarded NCTA’s Vanguard Award for Distinguished Leadership, considered the cable industry’s highest honor, four years later. Ms. Baker is a member of C200, an invitation-only global organization of top women business leaders.
Ms. Baker’s roots are in Alaska and she began her professional life as an aide on Capitol Hill to the late US Senator Ted Stevens of Alaska.
Senior Vice President of Distribution
Anthem Sports & Entertainment
Randy Brown is the Senior Vice President of Distribution for Anthem Sports & Entertainment. In this capacity he oversees distribution and revenue growth for the company’s growing portfolio of networks that are delivered on a variety of platforms throughout the world.
Since March of 2017 Brown has served as a corporate advisor on network acquisition and distribution strategy. His clients included ZoneTV where he served as interim Chief Revenue Officer as well as Anthem Sports where he focused on the acquisition of AXS TV and HDNet Movie Channel.
Before his advisory work Brown was the Executive Vice President of Distribution for ONE World Sports. In this role, Brown established distribution strategy and led the network’s expansion in the U.S. and Canada through cable, telco, satellite and digital providers. During his tenure Brown grew paying distributors from three to 34 and subscribers from 200K to 6.1M in a tight market for bandwidth and programming dollars.
Prior to ONE World Sports, Brown served as Executive Vice President of Affiliate Sales & Marketing for Outdoor Channel. Leading a 15-person affiliate sales and marketing team, Brown led domestic subscription growth to the highest level in company history through combination of new distribution agreements, new market launches and packaging improvements. He grew paid subscribers by 12.3M over a five-year period with the gain of 4.9M subscribers in 2009 ranking as the 4th highest among all ad supported networks. Brown also launched Outdoor Channel’s global expansion by licensing two overseas partners to operate Outdoor Channel branded networks in Asia, Europe, Middle East and Africa reaching 10.5M subs in 52 countries.
From 2001-2007, Brown served as Senior Vice President of Distribution for Tennis Channel. As the fifth employee hired during the start-up phase and member of executive management team, Brown was instrumental in overall business plan development and investor presentations leading up to $20M Series B and $40M Series C financing. In its formative years, Brown achieved cable clearance in every top 20 market and 47 of the top 50 making Tennis Channel available to 75.1M homes and received by 18M paid subscribers.
Brown began his career with ESPN, rising to Central Division Affiliate Sales and Marketing Vice President, overseeing domestic distribution of ESPN’s cable networks in 17 states. During his nearly 15-year career he held several positions in sales and marketing while developing distribution strategies contributing to the successful launches of ESPN2 and ESPNEWS in addition to the sell-in of NFL games tied to ABC and Hearst retransmission rights.
Brown graduated from Western Michigan University in 1984 with a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration. He received his Master’s degree in Business Administration from Loyola University, graduating with honors. Brown was also honored with the Outstanding Marketing Alumni Award and elected into Western Michigan’s Marketing Alumni Hall of Fame.

Dawn is Chief Marketing Officer of Boingo Wireless (NASDAQ: WIFI), the world’s leading DAS & Wi-Fi company.
Dawn oversees all marketing-related functions for the company, including branding, communications, PR, and investor relations. During her tenure, she's had revenue responsibility for the Military, Retail, and Media business lines, as well as Product and Customer Care.
Dawn is part of the leadership team that took Boingo from start-up to global leader in DAS & Wi-Fi, including its IPO in 2011. In 2018, she was named to the CableFax 100 list - saluting the top 100 executives in cable. CableFax also ranked her one of the "Top 100 Most Powerful Women In Cable" in 2016, 2017 and 2018. PR Magazine named her "Marketer of the Year" in 2017. And Cynopsis Media named honored her as a "Corporate Visionary" at the Top Women In Digital Awards, and a member of the "It List" at the Model D Digital Awards.
Prior to joining Boingo, Dawn spent 10 years with Time Warner Cable, where she was VP of Marketing. During her tenure there she was named "Woman of the Year" by Women in Cable and Telecommunications (WICT) and was a Betsy Magness Leadership Institute Fellow in 2004-05.

Peter Clifford is an award winning programming sales and marketing executive with extensive experience in MVPD and new media distribution. He has wide-ranging negotiation experience in traditional and new media, License fee and transactional networks, promotional skills and experience in building strategic partnerships;
He has expanded the visibility of independent networks such as Golf Channel, World Wrestling Entertainment's archived content and monthly pay-per-views, RFD-TV and RIDE TV.
Clifford’s experience covers the early cable years when distribution deals were completed at the local and regional level through regulatory struggles and retransmission consent deals, up to and including structuring and negotiating MVPD and OTT distribution agreements at the corporate level. At Golf Channel, Clifford ran distribution for the western half of the United states from (1996 - 2004) and brought Golf Channel from 100,000 subscribers to over 17,000,000 in 6 years in that territory. Later during his tenure there, Clifford developed a distribution plan for TGC's first-ever VOD product.
In early 2000, Clifford built an affiliate team for World Wrestling Entertainment and successfully distributed what could arguably be called the number one subscription video-on-demand service in the U.S. at the time. Over the next five years, Clifford handled distribution, marketing and P&L responsibility for a $100M annual PPV business and an $8M annual SVOD business.
In September of 2009, Clifford left WWE and started Open Mind Media, a programming sales and marketing services company where he was retained by AXS TV, Vubiquity, Plum TV, Golf TV, American Express Publishing, and Danny Lipford Media among others.
From June, 2013 through October 2016, Clifford ran Distribution and Affiliate Marketing for Rural Media Group. While there, Clifford increased distribution at RFD-TV by 18 million homes and FamilyNet by 6 million homes.
Today, Clifford is SVP Distribution for RIDE TV.

As Publisher, Michael oversees the sales, marketing and editorial operations of the Cablefax and StudioDaily brands at Access Intelligence, as well as plans new products and initiatives, and coordinates Cablefax- and StudioDaily-branded awards events, conferences and webinars. Over more than two decades, Mike’s writing has appeared in Wired, Business 2.0, Forbes, Variety, Billboard and many other respected publications. His expertise includes the television and media business, Internet streaming, consumer electronics, the music industry, B2B/e-business, online marketing, broadband/telecom infrastructure, and regulatory and legislative issues. Also a musician and songwriter, Mike's first solo record, Resolution, was released in February 2005, and he continues to produce original music. Mike is a member of the Television Critics Association.
Bob Gold founded and manages Bob Gold & Associates, one of the premiere independent integrated communications public relations agencies in the country. The agency specialty is being experts at the nexus where video content meets technology and distribution.
During his more than 30 years in public relations and marketing, Bob Gold has helped launch a dozen companies, re-branded many others, and created successful campaigns for numerous start-ups and Fortune 500 companies. He has also helped raise millions of dollars for charities, taught hundreds of students and helped further strategic business plans for numerous businesses and associations.
Gold is also the Co-Founder & Managing Partner of Hemisphere Technologies Inc., a Nevada corporation, which is dedicated to investing in publicly-traded and privately-held technology companies. Gold has extensive experience in small and large-scale transactions and works as a key member engaged in all aspects including sourcing, evaluating, structuring, monitoring, and, where applicable, harvesting investments.
Gold is the author of the popular children’s picture book, The Shiny Penny. Gold holds many honors including being inducted into the Cable TV Pioneers along with Comcast’s Brian Roberts, CNN’s Ted Turner and other notables. He holds a Masters’ degree in Communications Management from the Annenberg School of Communications at the University of Southern California, where he also sits on the Alumni Board of Directors.
When he’s not helping others, Gold can usually be found more than 65 feet underwater on a scuba diving “mancation” with his three sons.

Robyn Polashuk is co-chair of Covington's Communications and Media Industry Group and managing partner of the Los Angeles office. She focuses her practice on the licensing and distribution of television networks and programming content across a variety of platforms, including cable and satellite, IPTV, mobile, and Internet. These transactions span the business models available to consumers, such as subscription linear, ad-supported, subscription and transactional video-on-demand, electronic sell-through, and interactive applications. As part of this work, she also negotiates retransmission consent agreements on behalf of broadcast stations.
Ms. Polashuk has extensive experience in digital distribution in the areas of “over the top” (OTT), TV Everywhere (TVE), and direct-to-consumer (DTC) structures. She handles a variety of agreements in this space, including traditional network and program distribution, premium subscription content licenses, app placement and revenue sharing, and dynamic advertising insertion arrangements. Ms. Polashuk’s practice also extends to due diligence and contractual analysis in connection with media-related corporate transactions and most favored nations review and interpretation.
In this practice, Ms. Polashuk represents leading media groups, film and television studios, sports leagues and emerging networks, in general entertainment, national and regional sports and specialized programming genres, as well as both major and emerging technology, and Internet companies. These have included AMC Networks, Disney and ABC, CBS, Fox Cable Networks, Hulu, NFL Network, Ovation, Pac-12 Networks, PBS, Pluto TV, Sony Pictures, TV One, Univision Communications, and Viacom.
She has negotiated on behalf of content owners with all the traditional television distributors, such as AT&T/DIRECTV, Charter/Spectrum, Comcast, DISH Network. and Verizon, as well as OTT distributors and platforms, such as DIRECTV Now, Samsung, Roku, Sling TV, Twitter, and YouTube TV.
Ms. Polashuk earned a J.D. from UCLA School of Law, an M.A. from USC Annenberg School of Communications, and a B.A. from Duke University. She also completed the Harvard Business School, Cable Television Executive Management Program. She is admitted to practice law in California, New York, and the District of Columbia.
Industry veteran Ellen Schned spearheads a media consulting practice largely helping independent cable networks navigate in the challenging world of linear, digital and OTT distribution, in the U.S. and abroad. As President of EJS Media, she assists in distribution, strategy, PR, government and public affairs. Clients include Ovation, RIDE TV, Cinemoi, Dog TV, Uphoric Music Festival TV, and have included research, technology and cable companies, including Charter and Mediacom, among others.
Ellen was named a "Wonder Woman of Cable" by Multichannel News, one of the "Most Powerful Women in Cable" by Cablefax, won a "Gracie Award" from the Alliance for Women in Media and "Golden Beacon Award" from the CTPAA (Cable TV Public Affairs Assoc.) for outstanding Public Affairs Campaigns. She is a BMLI fellow, Class 7, and currently serves on the WICT SoCal Board.
Ellen started her career in Washington, D.C. as an Attorney Advisor at the FCC in the Mass Bureau and Office of Legislative Affairs, then VP of Government Relations for Viacom. She then headed to NYC where she was SVP Distribution, Affiliate Marketing and Local Ad Sales for Court TV and CBS College Sports, then back to L.A., where she is from, to head up Distribution for Ovation, before starting her own practice.
Ellen is based in L.A., attended Hastings College of the Law, where she was Student Body President, and UCLA.

Philip Schuman is a Senior Managing Director in Business Transformation and is the Leader of the Media & Entertainment practice specializing in telecom, media and technology. Mr. Schuman has expertise in advising companies in the communications, media, entertainment, technology and business services sectors.
