Marvin L. Jones has more than 40 years of cable industry experience under his belt. He got his start in the cable business in 1958, when he signed on as an installer/technician for AntennaVision in Globe, Arizona. From there, Marvin moved through the ranks, holding several positions in operations and executive capacities.

From 1984 to 1991, Mr. Jones served as president and chief executive officer of United Artists Cablesystems Corp. until that company was merged into Tele-Communications, Inc. Mr. Jones then formed his own cable television consulting firm, Marvin Jones Associates, Inc. In that capacity, he provided direction to clients - TCI among them - on a variety of international and domestic issues. He also handled partnership issues related to Liberty Media Corporation.

In March 1997, as part of a major company reorganization, TCI bought Mr. Jones back into the fold as chief operating officer of TCI Communications, Inc. His return signaled the MSO's renewed commitment to its core cable business and customer service - areas in which Mr. Jones is considered an expert. Along those lines, he quickly set to work placing more management autonomy and responsibility in the field, as close to TCI's customers as possible. Mr. Jones soon was promoted to president and chief executive officer of TCIC, where he handled all operational and company leadership responsibilities. In the wake of the AT&T/TCI merger, Mr. Jones was named executive vice president of AT&T Broadband and Internet Services.

Mr. Jones is a 1990 Cable TV Pioneer who has been honored in the Arizona Cable TV Pioneer Hall of Fame. He previously served on the board of directors of the National Cable Television Association and C-SPAN, and is a former board member of Cablelabs. Mr. Jones served from 1998 until 2000 as President and CEO of The National Cable Television Center and Museum (The Cable Center), and is currently chairman emeritus of the Walter Kaitz Foundation.
