 AL Jazerra Americas Libby Casey to Emcee Cable Hall of Fame Celebration


Libby CaseyDENVER, April 17, 2014 – The Cable Center announced today that Libby Casey, Al Jazeera America’s Washington, D.C. correspondent, will emcee the 17th annual Cable Hall of Fame Celebration. The Cable Center will host the Cable Hall of Fame Celebration on Tuesday, April 29, 2014 at the JW Marriott Los Angeles L.A. LIVE, in conjunction with The Cable Show 2014.

Libby Casey, Al Jazeera America’s Washington, D.C. correspondent, most recently hosted C-SPAN’s Washington Journal, the channel’s three-hour morning political and public affairs show. For Washington Journal, Casey was a host and producer, interviewing top leaders in Washington including former Secretary of State Madeleine Albright, members of Congress, governors, journalists and think tank experts. Before C-SPAN, Casey worked for several years covering the state of Alaska for public radio. Casey has been recognized with a number of awards including Edward R. Murrow Awards, a Silver Reel and top awards from the Society of Professional Journalists. In addition, her series profiling soldiers killed in Iraq, “Remembering the Fallen,” earned her the Alaska Press Club’s Public Service Award.

“We are thrilled to welcome Libby as emcee for this year’s Cable Hall of Fame. The celebration is just a couple weeks away, and we are excited for a delightful evening with industry friends and associates as we recognize our six honorees,” said Larry Satkowiak, president and chief executive officer of The Cable Center.

The Cable Hall of Fame Celebration will begin with a cocktail reception, followed by dinner and the induction ceremony.  The event program will also include the presentation of the Bresnan Ethics in Business Award, honoring the late William J. Bresnan, to Nick Davatzes. A festive after party concludes the evening’s activities.
